SEAVUS DROPMIND® OVERVIEW

What is Seavus DropMind®?

Web Seavus DropMind® is a mind mapping tool that allows you to take the full benefits and rich experience from the most powerful "next generation" runtime on the Web, Microsoft® Silverlight®. The web application provides unique visualization of the ideas into original 4 sphere map layout which no other web mind mapping tool has. The user has no limits in using the map realm and space, and is free to map-out all thoughts and data in a real time.

Why does Seavus DropMind® ask me to install Microsoft® Silverlight®?

Because it uses the Silverlight browser plug-in to run, similar to Adobe Flash. Seavus DropMind® works with Silverlight 4.0.

What are the minimum system requirements to run Seavus DropMind®?

Silverlight 4.0 required
Minimum system requirements to run Seavus DropMind®

RECOMMENDED: Use Silverlight in the 32-bit Internet Explorer process on x64 systems. Most browser plug-ins (including Silverlight, Flash, Java and almost all ActiveX controls) only work in 32-bit browsers currently.

How do I register?

To start the application you need to register for Seavus DropMind® Free account or you need to Purchase Premium account.
Steps:

If you register for Seavus DropMind® Free account you need to follow 2 simple steps:

  • Click on Register for your Free account;
  • Fill in the required fields; and,
  • Click SEND in the required fields

Afterwards you will receive an e-mail with the registration steps to the e-mail address which you have provided with your login details.

If you decide to Purchase fully functional Premium account you will need to follow the steps described below:

  • Fill in the Order Form
  • You will receive an email containing User ID and Link where you will be able to verify your account.
  • After your account verification you will receive an e-mail with the registration steps to access your Web Seavus DropMind®.

Note: Your FREE Seavus DropMind® account has limited functionalities.

I didn't receive my activation e-mail. What is the problem?

In case you do not receive the activation e-mail, most likely something went wrong with the registration. Please repeat the registration process and make sure to enter valid e-mail address. Additionally, please ensure that your e-mail filters will allow mail from Seavus DropMind® and be sure to check your junkmail folder (or security settings).

How Can I log in to DropMind®?

Apart from log in with your DropMind® username and password you can now log in to the application with your Gmail, Google Apps, Yahoo or OpenID credentials.

What is User Space?

The User Space is the first screen that is shown after you login. Here you can start new map or import map from a variety of options. Furthermore you can create folders to organize your maps and choose whether you want to view your created maps, your collaborated maps, maps published by other users, or map templates. Moreover you can see all the alerts from the actions taken on your maps, view map tags and create your mind map community.

How do I start a new map?

To start a new mind map, click "New" in the application top menu. Afterwards enter the map information and you are free to start picturing your thoughts. You can create a new map by using a default map style and naming the central topic followed by sibling topics, child topics, parent topics and floating topics; or by using an existing map or a template.

How can I open an already created mind map?

You can open an existing mind map by clicking "Open" in the application top menu, or by clicking the map thumbnail in your User Space.

How can I save already created mind map?

Maps are automatically saved by default. When you log off from the application or close a map, the modifications you've made are auto-saved.

If you save your map in History, you will be able to get back to this map version whenever you want in the future.

If you save your map as a template, the current map will be saved in the My Templates folder. The map will be available to you in this folder and you may use it as a base for creating new maps.

Can I import mind maps created in other Mind Manager software?

Yes, you can import maps created in MindJet MindManager®, FreeMind, XMind, Seavus DropMind® - Desktop and Microsoft® Word document by clicking the "Import" icon in the application top menu.

Are there any export options?

All created maps can be exported as an image, Document outline (.rtf) and to Seavus DropMind® - Desktop, Microsoft® Word (outline document), PDF, HTML, FreeMind, .XML and Basecamp's project information. You can export maps from the Start menu or from the External tab in the ribbon menu.

How the integration with Basecamp works?

You can export map branches from a map in Seavus DropMind® as To-Do lists and topics as To-Do items in a Basecamp's project. By clicking on the Export to Basecamp point button, you will get two exporting options: as a new To-Do list and as To-Do items. You can find two additional settings for choosing whether to export only topics with Task info or all topics and for choosing whether to export only uncompleted tasks or both completed and uncompleted tasks.

What does "send map" serve for?

By clicking on the "Send Map" button, you you can send the currently opened map as email attachment to the recipient of your choosing.
You can write the email address of the recipient or you can choose a contact from your Map Community.
The Map can be sent as:

  • Seavus desktop DropMind map (*.dmm);
  • RTF file (test outline of the map for Microsoft Word .rtf);
  • Image file (*.jpg);

Can I use topic formatting from one topic to another?

If you want to apply topic formatting from one topic to another, you can do it by using "Format Painter" option. Select the topic with desired formatting, click "Format painter" button and then click and slightly drag the topic you want formatting to be applied to.

Can I print an existing mind map?

You can print your mind maps by clicking the "Print" icon in the application top menu with the following options:

  • Fit to screen – Automatically resizes the pages to fit on a single page Subtree;
  • Print Subtree – Prints the selected topic and its subtree;
  • Fit Subtree to screen – Automatically resizes the Subtree page to fit on a single page;
  • Export Map as *.XPS file

Are there any search options through Web DropMind®?

You can find powerful search options in "Advanced Search Menu". It opens new window where you can define your Search by entering all or part of the words, exact phrase and choose from drop down list the Topic Type you want to search through: All Topics, Main topic, Subtopic, Floating Topic, and Callout Topic. Furthermore, there are options to search through your Topic Text, Notes, Hyperlinks, and Attachments.

There is also a possibility to consider the modifications made on the map(s) you search through. With "Modified since" section, you can either Ignore Modification Date or select a date from the calendar drop down.

How many topic levels can I add?

You can add as many topic levels as you want. Seavus DropMind® does not limit your creativity.
You can insert sibling topics, subtopics, parent topics, floating topics and key topics. Sibling topic refers to a same level topic. You can add as much sibling topics as you want. By clicking on "Subtopic" button from menu, new child topic of the selected topic is added. By clicking on "Parent Topic" button, a parent topic is put between the selected topic and the previous topic which was connected to the selected topic. Clicking on "Floating Topic" allows you to add a topic in the map that is floating, meaning it has no relationship to topics under the Central Topic. It has the same properties as any other topic, except that a sibling topic cannot be added from floating topic.
The key topics are the key points in the map. By marking a topic as a key node, you draw the attention on to the topic. That way you can easily orientate in the map.

Can I make numbering on my map topics?

Yes, you can insert numbering on your map topics by using the "Numbering" button located in "Format" menu. You can choose between numbers, letters (lower or upper case) or roman numbers (lower or upper case). The numbering will start from the upper right topic and continue clock-wise. You can apply numbering to the subtopics as well. The numbering will start from the topic you've selected. If the central topic is selected, numbering will apply to a whole map, if other topic is selected, the numbering will apply only through its subtopics.

Can I delete my account on DropMind Web?

Yes, you can permanently delete your account if you go to settings and then delete account. Please note that you need to enter your password and reason why you are deleting your account.

Is there any option where I can see changes made on my own and collaborated maps?

The "Map Alerts" section provides you with information about the changes which happened on your created and collaborated maps as text notifications.

What is Twitter integration?

With this feature you can post tweet feeds directly from DropMind, by clicking on a Twitter menu button, the text in the selected topic will be posted as tweet feed from your Twitter account. In the "Twitter Account" tab of "My Settings" section you can enter your Twitter account details (username and password). In the "Share" section under the "Publish" tab you can enable "Allow Twittering from this map" check box. Then, you should follow DropMind on Twitter and you will receive all map alerts as direct messages within your Twitter account. This should be enabled for each map separately.

Can I save more maps?

Yes, you can save up to ten maps, if you have free account and unlimited maps, if you have premium account, within your user space with an opportunity to create as many maps as you want within map space.

Can I collaborate with others?

If you have free account you can collaborate with two users inviting them as collaborators and/or viewers. If you have premium account, you can collaborate on your maps with as many people as you want. By clicking the "Share" button in the bottom application menu, you can assign collaborators and viewers on your map, at the same time adding them to your Map Community. Only the map creator has a privilege to invite users to the map. As soon as you create a map, you can start inviting users to collaborate or view the map.

Can I chat with the collaborators?

Yes. Users can use the integrated Chat when collaborating in real time with other users. The new Chat enables the users to type messages on a group chat room where all the collaborators are represented with unique-colored username.

Can I import contacts from Gmail account?

You can import all or selected contacts from your Gmail account by clicking on the "Add collaborators" button in My map community and choosing the Google tab.

How many people can work on a Seavus DropMind® at the same time?

Seavus DropMind® does not have upper limit on people working on a map. All of your invited collaborators and viewers van reach a map in the same time.

What can people do with a Seavus DropMind® once I have shared it with them?

This depends on the role which you've assigned to the people with who you've shared your map. If a user is assigned as collaborator he/she can view your maps at the same time editing them. If a user is assigned as viewer he/she can take a look at your maps and follow up your work.

How large can I make my Seavus DropMind® map?

You can create your maps as large as you need them. Additionally you can create as many maps as you want within your map space.

What does Publish serve for?

You can publish your maps and integrate them into web sites or blogs by clicking on the "Publish" button.

Can I hold a presentation with my Seavus DropMind®?

Seavus DropMind® enables you to generate presentation for your created maps in the Presentation mode (application top menu). Each presentation can be seen by anyone involved in your map space.
The Presentation Mode allows for a "full-screen" view of your existing mind maps. It allows you to present different parts of your maps with minimum distraction. You can generate separate slides of different topics by taking snapshots from a particular topic and showcasing them in a unique and up-to-the-minute presentation.
You can save the presentation on your DropMind space or export it as a .zip archive and .ppt presentation.

What does Outline serve for?

When you click on the "Outline" icon in the application top menu, a new vertical window will open in the right section of the map. The central topic is the title of the outline, starting from the upper right corner and going clock-wise, the main topics are heading 1 and so on. If there are other maps (central topics) they are shown after the first map, represented with the same logic. The map where the selected topic is, is the first map. Floating topics are written at the end of the outline, as heading 1. The callout topics, are shown one level below the topic where they are callout topics. You can edit the names of the topics in the outline window by double clicking on them. The changes are automatically shown on the map, and vice versa, all map changes are shown in the outline window. One click selects the row.

Can I add an external relationship?

Yes, you can add an external relationship and link associated topics by clicking "Relationship" in the right menu within the map space. There is no limitation to the number of external relationships per map. You must select two nodes, one by one, in order to establish an external relationship between them. You can customize the relationship colour, size and style to best fit your map.

What is a callout?

Callout topic is a descriptive topic that has the same properties as any other topic. It can be added to any topic except the Central one. It is placed above a selected topic. In addition, it can be added to an external relationship when it is placed in the center of the relationship. You can add a callout by selecting the topic to which you want to add a callout and clicking "Callout" in the right menu.

Can I group related topics?

You can group related topics by inserting boundaries. Boundaries are used to emphasize the relationship between topics and subtopics with an outline, surrounding an area on a map with your choice of line type and an optional fill color. Moreover, you can add boundaries within boundaries to group related topics within an already existing boundary. You can add boundaries by selecting the topic which subtopics you want to group, and clicking "Boundary" in the right menu.

How can I add Notes on the map topics?

You can add Topic Notes by clicking on the "Notes" tab in the right menu within the map space. There is no limit for characters in notes. After you write text in the Notes window, icon for notes will be put below the topic text. By clicking this icon the notes tab in the right menu will be shown where you can see the information which you have previously entered. Text in notes can be formatted by font style, font size. On mouse over the Notes icon inside the topic, a notes box with notes text is shown.

Can I insert a link to the map?

Yes, you can insert link by clicking a "Hyperlinks" tab in the Topic Elements section of the right menu within the map space. You can add link(s) to any web site. Icon for hyperlinks will be put below the topic text. On icon click, the URL stated in hyperlink opens in new tab. You can add as much links as you want on a single topic. The links will be added in the Hyperlink List starting with the most recent one added. If multiple links are added on a single topic, you can open desired hyperlink by clicking on it in the Hyperlink List. The clicked link will be opened in a new tab.

Moreover, you can interlink your maps by selecting a specific topic and clicking the "Add Map Link". Once this button is clicked new screen is opened where you can select a map to be linked with the selected topic. Once the link is added, an icon is put below the topic text, which by clicking will open the linked map in a new tab in the Map Space.

Can I add attachments to the topics?

Yes, you can add attachments. The attach option is located in the Topic Elements group from the Insert tab menu. You can attach documents to topics by uploading and attaching files from your computer, attaching documents from your Google Docs account or reattaching already uploaded documents to your Dropmind account.

Can I add web sites link(s) to topic?

By clicking the "Hyperlink" tab you can add link(s) to topics from any web site. Icon for hyperlinks will be added below the topic text. The inserted hyperlink will be added to the list and if you click the hyperlink icon in the topic, or in the hyperlink list, the URL stated will open in new window/tab of your default browser.

How can I add icons?

You can add icons to a specific topic by clicking "Icon" in the right menu. You can add as many icons as you want on a single topic. Icon markers and single icons are available in the Icon Library.

What are icons used for?

Icons are used to increase and clarify communication. Icons help organize mind maps using visual content defined in a dynamically updated legend.

Can I insert a picture?

Yes, you can insert picture from Seavus DropMind® from available images in the "Image Library". The Image Library is placed in the right menu within the map space. More over you are allowed to upload your own images in the Seavus DropMind® Image Library or simply insert the image URL to add the image in the Image Library, and then choose to place the desired image inside the selected topic and resize it to best fit. Additionally, you are able to search images online and add them to your map. You can search images available on Flickr® or Live. There is no limit on number of searched results. You can also add an image URL to place the desired image in the selected topic.

Can I create topic alert?

You can create topic alert for any mind map topic. Use alerts to set a reminder to open and work with a specific map at an assigned date and time. Also you can set an email reminder before the alerts due time and set a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly recurrence to that alert as well.

Can I insert Date/Time in the Topic?

Yes. This option is available after selecting the desired Topic and customizing the appropriate format in the "Date/Time" option from the "Topic Elements" section in the Right Menu. You can insert Date or Time individually or both and choose Long or Short format to be displayed.

Can I customize topic shapes?

Yes, you can customize topic shapes. You can choose the predefined topic shape from "Topic" tab in the Formatting section of the right menu within map space. The chosen topic shape is applied to the selected topic. Here you can customize the topic fill colour, topic border and change colour to the relationships.

How do I format topic text?

Text entered in nodes can be formatted by clicking "Text" tab in the Formatting section of the right menu within map space. You can choose:

  • Font family;
  • Font size;
  • Font colour; and,
  • Font style (B, I, U, abc ).

How do I add background to my map?

You can add background colour to your mind map by clicking on "Map" tab in the Formatting section of the right menu within map space. Here you change the color of the whole map.

What are map parts?

Map parts are sections of the map that are saved in 'Library'. Saved Map part can be easily applied to other place in the map, or can be added as a section to a totally different map.

How can I find maps by with words or phrases inside them?

"Search" box exist in user space. You can search maps by map name and key topics by writing the desired (key) words in the search box. Every map which key topics contain the searched word(s) and the maps with the searched word(s) in their name will be listed when searching.
Public maps are not included in the search results.

SEAVUS DROPMIND® SECURITY

How do I make sure I won't lose data?

The application has AutoSave option. However, please make sure to save your maps in Map History once in a while, to ensure further safety of losing your entered information.

Is there a way to restore a deleted map?

DropMind® has a Recycle Bin where you can find all of your deleted maps. From here you can either restore them or delete them permanently.

What if I lose my network connection?

If you unexpected lose your network connection , the data which the application AutoSaved at certain point are save and secure. The amount of data that you will lose are those entered in time interval from AutoSave until losing your connection.

Can I make a task from existing topic or subtopic?

If you add task information to any topic or subtopic within your map, it will become a task. The following task properties can be applied to the topics: Start and End Date, Duration, Resources, Priority, % Complete. Also there is option whether all this info should be shown within the topic element or not. "Task Info" option can be found in the "Topic Elements" section from the "Right Menu" in the DropMind Web window.

Are there any integrated search providers?

Four buttons, Google, Live search, del.icio.us and Wikipedia, exist, which by clicking, search the word or phrase written in the selected topic. When "Google" button is clicked, a new pop-up window showing the search results is opened inside the application. The same applies for "Live" search. Delicious is opened in a new tab/or window, according to your settings. The same applies for "Wikipedia" search.

When you open Google search pop-up window, a list with limited 32 search results is shown. When you click on a search result, it is opened in a new tab or window, according to your settings. If you click "More Results" link, Google search results page with the searched term is opened in a new tab or window, depending on your settings.
